This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference in the early stages of education and gain experience supporting pupils with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN).
The Role:
- Work alongside class teachers and the school’s Speech and Language Therapist to deliver tailored interventions and communication programmes.
- Support children individually and in small groups to develop their expressive and receptive language skills.
- Use visual supports, signing (such as Makaton or BSL), and structured communication tools to aid understanding.
- Track and record progress, celebrating small wins and encouraging children’s confidence in speaking and listening.
- Experience supporting children with speech, language, or communication needs is desirable but not essential.
- A degree or background in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech and Language Therapy, or Education would be an advantage.
- Enthusiastic, patient, and empathetic with strong communication skills.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
