Job Title: Data Protection Specialist
Location: Aylesbury (Hybrid)
Salary: £16.97-£17.77ph
Service Area: Information Management
Working hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Protection Specialist to join the Information Management team on a 5-month temporary basis. You will play a key role in supporting the Council and its partners to comply with data protection legislation, ensuring sensitive information is appropriately redacted before release. Working closely with the Data Protection Officer, you will help manage Subject Access Requests (SARs) and other information requests, maintaining high standards of confidentiality and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
· Review and redact information in line with data protection and information governance legislation.
· Liaise with the Data Protection Officer, external agencies, and professionals to ensure sensitive information is handled correctly.
· Provide guidance and support to requestors while safeguarding the privacy of individuals.
· Maintain accurate records and assist with audits and compliance checks.
· Keep up to date with evolving legislation, Codes of Practice, and best practice standards.
· Report any potential data breaches to the Data Protection Officer.
· Carry out other ad hoc tasks as required.
About You
· Knowledge and understanding of data protection, records management, and Subject Access Requests.
· Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
· Competent in MS Office, including templates and macros.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and support a team environment.
· Ability to converse confidently with customers and provide accurate advice in spoken English.
