Teaching Assistant – SEND School – Birmingham
A supportive and welcoming SEND school in Birmingham is looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for a Teaching Assistant who enjoys working closely with pupils and making a meaningful difference to their learning and development.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers and specialist staff to support pupils with Autism, MLD, and additional learning needs. The Teaching Assistant role includes both 1-2-1 and small group support, helping pupils to engage with learning, build confidence, and develop key life skills. This role requires previous experience as a Teaching Assistant and a level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

- Working closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning activities
- Supporting pupils with communication, social skills, and emotional regulation
- Assisting with behaviour support and maintaining a calm learning environment
- Helping pupils access the curriculum and achieve individual targets
- Recording progress and feeding back to teaching staff and SENCO
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or supporting children with SEND
- A patient, caring, and flexible approach
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils with additional needs
