About the Role
We are seeking an Associate Electrical Design Engineer to join a people-first, sustainability-focused building services consultancy in Oxfordshire. This is a leadership position for an experienced engineer who wants to take ownership of electrical design, mentor junior staff, and influence strategic decisions on high-performance, low-carbon projects.
As an Associate Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead the electrical discipline across education, residential, heritage, and science sector projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver technically excellent and sustainable MEP solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design on complex building services projects, from early feasibility through construction and post-occupancy
- Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, fostering professional growth and knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with mechanical, sustainability, and BIM teams to ensure coordinated, compliant, and innovative MEP designs
- Represent the consultancy at client meetings, workshops, and project reviews
- Contribute to strategic planning, resourcing, and business development initiatives
- Drive innovation in sustainable technologies and low-energy system design
- Participate in continuous improvement of internal processes, QA procedures, and design standards
- Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Building Services Engineering
- Chartered or actively working towards CEng status (IET, CIBSE, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems: power, lighting, fire/life safety, data, and controls
- Up-to-date with UK standards: BS 7671, CIBSE guidance, building regulations, and sustainability frameworks such as Passivhaus and BREEAM
- Confident leader with client management experience and strategic thinking skills
- Proficient in design software: AutoCAD, Revit (desirable), Amtech, Dialux/Relux
- Excellent communicator with a collaborative approach and hands-on leadership style
- Hybrid working with flexibility and a welcoming Oxfordshire office environment
