Principal / Associate Electrical EngineerLocation: Oxford | Focus: Leadership, Low Carbon Design, Heritage ProjectsEmployment Type: Full-TimeOverviewWe are seeking a Principal / Associate Electrical Engineer to join a highly respected, independently owned building services consultancy in Oxford. This senior role offers the opportunity to lead technically complex projects, influence design standards, and mentor the next generation of engineers.
The Principal / Associate Electrical Engineer will take ownership of electrical designs across multiple sectors, including heritage refurbishments, education, healthcare, and commercial developments, ensuring sustainable, low-carbon, and high-quality outcomes.

The Principal / Associate Electrical Engineer will take ownership of electrical designs across multiple sectors, including heritage refurbishments, education, healthcare, and commercial developments, ensuring sustainable, low-carbon, and high-quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design of building services projects from feasibility through to handover, covering lighting, small power, distribution, fire alarms, security, data, and containment
- Coordinate with MEP teams, architects, and external consultants to deliver integrated, high-quality designs
- Oversee production of detailed designs, calculations, technical drawings, and project documentation
- Act as technical lead during client meetings, site visits, and project reviews
- Contribute to bids, fee proposals, and business development initiatives
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and technical growth across the team
- Ensure compliance with UK building regulations, CIBSE standards, and sustainable design best practices
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline
- Chartered (CEng) or near chartered via IET or CIBSE
- 8+ years’ consultancy experience, ideally at Principal or Associate level
- Strong experience in education, healthcare, heritage, or commercial projects
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux/Relux, and UK regulations
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills
- Passion for low-carbon, energy-efficient, and sustainable building design
